Marvel has officially revealed the new Avengers team for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, which is slated for release in 2026. The members of the new team, who are set to join Sam Wilson as "The Heroic Avengers", will include one surprising character.
Unveiling the new gang on Tuesday, a Disney event in Italy confirmed that Loki will be joining Captain America's new Avengers along with Thor, Shang-Chi, Falcon, and Ant-Man.
In a video of the event, which was shared via X, Disney shared a picture of the actors in their respective roles, calling them "The Heroic Avengers".
Pictured in that group were Anthony Mackie (Wilson), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Danny Ramirez (Falcon), and Loki star Tom Hiddleston.
While some fans were hoping that Letitia Wright would be joining the new Avengers team as Shuri (aka Black Panther), she was described as being part of The Wakandan Warriors team instead.

An exciting moment for MCU fans, the recent announcement doesn't mean the team is set in stone just yet, as it's possible Wilson's team could grow.
At the end of Thunderbolts*, Wilson's name was heavily featured in a post-credits scene in which it was revealed that Captain America was assembling his own official Avengers team.
With Wilson clashing with the team of anti-heroes led by The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), who rebranded themselves as The New Avengers, we'll have to wait to see how that all plays out.

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman recently addressed the possibility of appearing in the upcoming Avengers films, which will see Robert Downey Jr return to the MCU as Doctor Doom.
Addressing rumours that he would be reprising his iconic role as Wolverine, Jackman remained coy, saying he wouldn't say "never" again, having returned to the role for the 2024 film Deadpool & Wolverine.
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Jackman said: "Maybe. I’m never saying 'never' ever again. I did mean it until the day I changed my mind. I did mean it for quite a few years. I have done ten films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me!"
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on 18 December 2026.
