STRANGER THINGS ICON EDDIE MUNSON COULD BECOME NEW VECNA IF HE'S BROUGHT BACK

Stranger Things season five, part two is on the horizon, sparking speculation about a possible return of Eddie Munson.

Eddie Munson (portrayed by Joseph Quinn) is the charismatic leader and Dungeon Master of Hawkins High's Hellfire Club. Initially, he didn't seem destined to be a standout character in season four.

Yet, his sarcastic humour, unwavering loyalty, and courage quickly endeared him to Netflix viewers, who embraced the flamboyant metalhead.

His tragic demise at the hands of Demobats, after heroically diverting them so his friends could seal the gate to Hawkins, was a significant blow to the Stranger Things universe.

Despite his gruesome end, fans are holding out hope for the return of this eccentric character in the final episodes, although the method may not go down well with subscribers.

In the fourth season, viewers discovered how Number One, or Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower), morphed into the terrifying entity known as Vecna.

Following a brutal confrontation at Dr Brenner's (Matthew Modine) lab, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) banished Henry to the Upside Down.

Henry's prolonged exposure to the Upside Down's toxic environment, coupled with the Mind Flayer's influence, led to his transformation into this monstrous being.

Given that Eddie's body remains in the Upside Down, if he somehow survived the Demobats' savage attack, might he also evolve into a creature akin to Vecna?

Should Eddie make a comeback in such a condition, devotees of the show would struggle to recognise the cherished rocker who Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) once idolised.

However, it seems Eddie's fate is sealed, with creators The Duffer Brothers previously telling Empire magazine that his death is permanent.

Matt Duffer explained: "Joe [Quinn] is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he's not coming back.

"He's shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He's fully under that ground."

Since his brief but memorable portrayal of Eddie, Joseph Quinn has appeared in A Quiet Place: Day One, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Gladiator II.

The 36-year-old actor is also lined up to portray Johnny Storm in Avengers: Secret Wars and Doomsday, whilst taking on the role of George Harrison across all four eagerly awaited Beatles films.

Stranger Things season five, part two, premieres on Boxing Day, Friday, December 26, on Netflix.
