SUMMERWATER SERIES 1, EPISODE 1 CAST: WHO HAS JOINED THE CAST FOR NEW DRAMA??

Summerwater represents Channel 4's latest drama offering. This eagerly awaited series draws inspiration from Sarah Moss's bestselling novel bearing the same title.

The Scottish-set adaptation boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Dougray Scott, Harry Potter and Dept. Q star Shirley Henderson, Blue Lights favourite Valene Kane, Showtrial's Anna Prochniak, House of the Dragon actor Gabriel Scott, Vigil's Anders Hayward, and The White Lotus season 3 actor Arnas Fedaraviciu.

Gabriel Scott, Dougray Scott's son, also appears in the production, portraying a younger iteration of his father's character, with Gabriel recognised for his work in House of the Dragon, His Dark Materials and Lockerbie.

Summerwater has been described as a "thrilling and compulsive" drama exploring relationships, sexuality, identity, and the impossibility of escaping one's true nature, reports the Daily Record.

The programme unfolds within a Scottish holiday park setting, chronicling five families occupying lakeside cabins.

The official synopsis reads: "Set predominantly at a remote loch-side Scottish holiday cabin park, Summerwater looks at the simmering tensions between holidaymakers that eventually erupt into a devastating climax.

"Weaving together the lives of several families as they navigate unspoken conflicts, private dilemmas, and fleeting moments of beauty from their disparate cabins, the story flashes back to dramatic events in key characters' lives before their holiday which may have consequences in the present."

However, who features in Summerwater's cast? Here's everything you need to know about the actors.

Dougray portrays the character of David, a retired GP who has been visiting Summerwater with his wife Annie for years. However, it soon becomes clear that they can't escape their problems this time.

Dougray is recognised for his numerous roles in television and film. His early credits include Taggart, Twin Town EverAfter and Mission: Impossible II.

More recently, Dougray has starred in The Hack, Sherlock and Daughter and Crime.

Shirley portrays David's wife Annie, a regular visitor to Summerwater. A recent medical diagnosis has seen Annie becoming physically weaker and cognitively declining.

Actress Shirley is best known for her role as Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter film series and has also starred in hit-drama Dept. Q, Happy Valley and Hamish Macbeth as well as films Trainspotting and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.

Audiences will recognise Valene from her role as Rose Stagg in The Fall, Jacqueline in Gangs of London and Angela Mackle in Blue Lights. She has also starred in The Winter King, Hanna and The Other Guy.

Daniel portrays Justine's husband Steve, a doting father to Lola and Jack. Faced with financial woes and a stagnant career, Steve is disheartened about his marriage and yearns for a closer bond with his wife.

Anna's character Alina works as a waitress at the Summerwater hotel. She is a devoted mother to her daughter Violeta and partner to Marijonas.
