THE FALL GUY CONFIRMS STREAMING RELEASE DATE

The Fall Guy has confirmed its streaming release date in the US, with fans getting two versions of the film.

The action-comedy, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, will drop on Peacock (not one of the streaming services in the UK in 2024, we're afraid) on August 30. That's both the theatrical cut and a 20-minute longer extended cut.

The extended version runs at 146 minutes, and NBCUniversal has described it as featuring "more action, stunts, romance and more sexy bacon!"

The film ended its cinematic run with a disappointing $178 million against a production budget reported to be as high as $150 million. That number doesn't factor in marketing costs either, so the decision was made to release it for digital purchases just weeks after release.

We don't know when or where the film will be available for streaming in the UK, although looking at the US, the streaming release is just over a month after its DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K disc release earlier this week. The UK is getting the film physically on August 5, so perhaps we'll see it on streaming in September.

Digital Spy's 3-star review of the film reads: "The Fall Guy has the right amount of action, comedy and romance, a winning formula that never wavers despite an overcomplicated plot and some tone-deaf jokes (like one mentioning Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's divorce). Drew Pearce's script is not perfect, but Gosling and Blunt make up for any missteps.

"What the story nails is that classic screwball-comedy feeling, which sees the main couple constantly bantering until their feelings are too strong to hide."

The Fall Guy is available for digital purchase now, and will be available for Peacock subscribers from August 30.
