Singer Mick Hucknall berated a fan after they were accused of interrupting his performance, telling him to “shut it.”
The Simply Red star also told a member of the audience to put a “sock in it” during the rant mid-performance.
Fan Fay Marinho captured the angry outburst during the band’s 40th anniversary tour. The rant from the 65-year-old was applauded by other gig-goers who cheered the star on.
The footage was captured by the 38-year-old at the OVO arena Wembley, on Saturday (October 11).
In the clip, Hucknall can be heard shouting “Shut it’ whilst pointing to a person in the crowd.
The singer then shouted: “Sock in it.
“I’m sick of hearing it.”
He then turned to the rest of the audience to apologise for the outburst.
Hucknall continued: “I’m sorry about that but you know, I can’t concentrate - he’s yelling so loud.
“You’ve come to hear me sing, not him, with the greatest respect.”
Fay, of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, revealed that the person was shouting the lyrics to the next song.
“Mick was talking about the next song that he was going to sing, the guy in the crowd was shouting along the lines of that song,” Fay said.
“This distracted Mick and he was struggling to concentrate on what he wanted to share about the story and therefore became upset very quickly.
“I think it was just a very excited member of the public who was happy to see him live, they were in the front row so had clearly paid a lot of money to see him.
“I think Mick was great on his show but should have some patience with the people who pay to support him and could have handled that situation better and made more of a respectful joke out of the situation.”
