Country music fans are buzzing with the news that the eight-time Grammy-nominated artist Luke Combs is bringing his tour to Slane Castle next year. They’re also a bit put out by the price.
The news was confirmed on Thursday, October 9, that the North Carolina native was Ireland-bound with his new show My Kinda Saturday Night tour, and it was also announced that The Script will be supporting.
Combs, whose hits include Beautiful Crazy, Forever After All and She Got the Best of Me, as well as his cover of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car, has sold out venues across Ireland before, and now has set his sights on the iconic Slane Castle as his next stage to conquer.
The kicker for many fans though, is the price of tickets, with them starting at a whopping €121.25 (excluding service charge).
One fan wrote: ‘Prices for Luke Combs at #Slane will START at €121. You could buy a few pairs of wrangler jeans for that.’
Another said: ‘Over €130 a ticket to go see Luke Combs in Slane!!! Don’t get me wrong, I like him and his music, but Christ that’s a huge price. The world’s gone mad!’
A third wrote on Instagram: ‘€122 for a ticket?? I’m glad I don’t know much about this guy….crikey.’
Luke Combs marks the first time a country music star has headlined Slane Castle since shows began being held there in 1981, with other acts to have graced the grounds including U2, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Bruce Springsteen, Harry Styles, Eminem, Bon Jovi and Madonna.
It’s quite the group to be a part of, but considering Combs has been nominated for a Grammy eight times, and is the first country artist to have two songs surpass one billion streams on Spotify, we can see why he makes the cut.
