Amanda Holden couldn't resist making fun about Ofcom complaints she's previously sparked due to her revealing outfits on the show. Ahead of the National Television Awards returning this week, the 54-year-old caught up with the event's host Joel Dommett to discuss the annual event, held at London's 02 arena.
Speaking on her Heart Radio Breakfast show, the pair, alongside Jamie Theakston, shared their thoughts on the nominations and discussed preparations for the evening.
During their chat, Amanda mentioned that Britain's Got Talent always lost to Strictly Come Dancing in the Talent show category, and therefore had no hope of a win.
After Joel claimed that this result could change at this year’s event, the judge admitted she wasn’t sure who would collect the award, as hosts Ant and Dec are away filming.
Amanda went on to suggest that last year’s winner, Sydney Christmas, would be the perfect choice to collect the gong, before Joel offered to step in himself.
"I'll put on a tartan number and I'll pick it up," Joel said, referencing the outfit Amanda was wearing at the time of their chat.
In response, Amanda said: "I'm wearing tartan we should say, [but] no, what you should wear is an Ofcom complaint dress. Sit in the audience with a bit of fish wire holding everything together."
Joel went on to say that his outfit for tomorrow features "a high slit" - a style loved by Amanda.
She replied: "I've got one good leg, I always go with the right leg for a slit."
In the same chat, the presenter revealed why she wasn't attending one of the most popular nights in television.
Not realising it is a live show, Joel jokingly questioned why she didn't know how it worked.
"[I went] years ago," she replied. "Because it's at the 02 now, I don't want to schlep it up there."
Amanda has been no stranger to an Ofcom complaint during her years as a judge on Britain's Got Talent.
In 2017, the judge sparked 216 complaints within 48 hours over a daring low-cut Julien Macdonald gown she opted to wear on a live show.
Over the next three months, that total rose to 663 complaints, which made it the most complained-about TV moment of the year.
More recently, 96 Ofcom complaints were raised during this year's Britain's Got Talent final, with 72 of those focused on Amanda and Alesha Dixon’s revealing outfits.
Despite the volume of complaints, the regulator decided not to investigate.
Previously addressing the criticism, Amanda told Closer Magazine: "I'm always asked about the Ofcom complaints, but every outfit on the show is checked before I leave my dressing room, so I'm never worried. I think people should have fun with fashion!"
In other Britain's Got Talent news, ITV announced that Bruno Tonioli will no longer be a part of the panel due to other filming commitments. The former judge will be replaced by KSI, who was a guest judge last year.
The National Television Awards airs tonight at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
