DEAD BY DAYLIGHT’S NEW SABLE WARD SKIN REIGNITES FOOT OBSESSION CLAIMS

We hope you've packed your swimming costume and the sun cream because Behaviour Interactive is hitting the beach with its latest Dead by Daylight outfits. While we might focus most of our attention on upcoming crossovers with horror icons like Lara Croft and Castlevania, let's not forget DbD has its own original story to 'flesh' out its fandom.

Dead by Daylight's July 2024 roadmap is typically packed, boasting a new 2v8 mode, the Tome 20 Mythic, and the much-hyped Tomb Raider crossover. However, the return of the Waterfront Massacre Collection has piqued some players' interest - especially thanks to its new outfits.

Waterfront Massacre Collection reignites Dead by Daylight's 'foot' claims

As the sand gets a splash of the red stuff, DbD's in-game store is showing off its new beach-ready outfits for Sable Ward, Gabriel Soma, and Adam Francis. In particular, Sable Ward's goth-chic look is grabbing a lot of attention. Despite only being released in March's Chapter 31: All Things Wicked, the silver-haired siren is already getting an outfit change.

The first Waterfront Massacre Collection was released in 2019 and has since become a regular of the game's summer celebrations. Hoping to rival previous favourites like Mikaela's Sunlight Seance and The Trapper's Seaside Psycho, Sable's Whimsical Weather is giving us some serious Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice vibes.

It might not just be Quentin Tarantino who had a thing for those little piggies, as Behaviour has previously addressed claims it has a 'foot fetish.' Over on Reddit, u/zMustaine reminded us of a quote from Lead Character Artist Eric defending the barefooted characters.

Eric previously said, "No, we don’t like feet," about an apparent foot fetish. "If we make more feet cosmetics it’s because you like feet. Supply and demand, the data doesn't lie." A 2023 Kotaku article pointed out it took until the release of Skull Merchant for DbD to release an original killer that didn't have their feet exposed.

At this point, it feels like the team knows what it's doing and is getting in on the joke. With Sable Ward being the talk of the Waterside Massacre Collection 2024, she's sure to sell like hotcakes. Whether that's because she's barefoot or not, we're not here to judge.
