LEAKERS CLAIM TO HAVE A FIRST LOOK AT INSOMNIAC’S SPIDER-MAN 3

We love good Spider-Man trilogy, from Sam Raimi's under Tobey Maguire or Tom Holland in the MCU (sorry, Andrew Garfield), and now, Yuri Lowenthal could be about to complete his own trio of terrific capers. After Insomniac Games soared to the top of the charts with the first two Spider-Man games, would anyone be surprised by a threequel?

Like Rocksteady Studios reinvented the superhero game genre with the Arkhamverse, Insomniac took these seeds and ran with them to deliver Marvel's Spider-Man in 2018. A leaked Insomniac roadmap teased the likes of a Venom spin-off, an X-Men crossover game, and Spider-Man 3

First look at Spider-Man 3 potentially leaked

Spider-Man 3 is potentially swinging into our lives in 2028, although there's no official word. Now, X (formerly Twitter) account @zvis_ceral claims to have our first look at the game's rough prototype. It shows a masked Spider-Person (seemingly Cindy Moon/Silk) swinging across Central Park.

The OP writes, "Also keep in mind SM3 just entered pre production somewhere mid/end last year so there won't be much new things to discover. This is just a very very early prototype. Also the silk suit will be ported into the SM2 Brazil port soon."

The team behind the bootleg PC port of Spider-Man 2 has apparently got this very early prototype up and running, with more details coming soon. As they pointed out, we shouldn't expect too much, especially if this was part of the Insomniac leak. The devs are likely hard at work and any version of Spider-Man 3 will already look different to this.

Some aren't even convinced this leak is real, and nowadays, it's far too easy to fake all of the above. However, if it is the real deal, it suggests Insomniac is already well on the way to delivering a suitably epic conclusion to this trilogy.

Spider-Man 3 isn't official yet

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 let you switch between playing as Peter or Miles, but by the time the final credits rolled, it seemed like Miles was going to take over as the full-time Spider-Man as Peter took a break. Then again, a post-credit stinger with Doctor Octopus and Norman Osborn would certainly spur him back into action.

The end of Spider-Man 2 also introduced us to Cindy Moon, who under the mantle of Silk, would almost definitely be part of a third game. Still, it seems a little too easy that this leak cashes in on the hype of Silk. We can't imagine Insomniac chucking us straight in to play as Silk.

By the time Spider-Man 3 eventually releases, it would most likely be on the PlayStation 6 or at least be a cross-gen title. Insomniac is a busy studio, and with us having barely seen a thing from its upcoming Wolverine game, don't expect to see Spider-Man 3 anytime soon. Remember, we still haven't had that Spider-Man 2 DLC
