STRICTLY STAR KATYA JONES JOKES ABOUT EX AS SHE CONFESSES THEY WERE 'NEVER GOOD'

Strictly's Katya Jones made a light-hearted joke about her ex Neil Jones during her appearance on the show's spin-off, It Takes Two.

The professional dancer joined fellow Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden on the programme this week, as they went head-to-head in the latest pro challenge. When discussing which of the professionals might excel at a Samba task, Amy put forward Neil, another dancer from the BBC ballroom extravaganza.

However, Katya seemed puzzled by the mention of Neil's name, chuckling that they "were never good" at the dance.

On the show, both Katya and Amy had to perform as many Samba steps as possible under the watchful eye of judge Shirley Ballas, balancing speed with technique as any missteps wouldn't be counted. Ultimately, Amy outshone Katya, scoring 33 and surpassing her to claim the top spot on the leaderboard.

It Takes Two host Janette Manrara asked them to predict how their fellow pros might fare in the challenge, reports Wales Online.

As Katya mulled it over, Amy suggested that Neil - to whom Katya was married for six years - would likely do well when he took on the challenge.

"Out of the pros left, who do you ladies think will be a good challenger for the 33 at the top?" Janette queried.

"I am saying Neil this year," Amy responded. But Katya asked her: "Why does everyone say Neil? We were never good at Samba!"

"Well we will have to wait and find out, there is still plenty more to go," Janette replied, as the dancers shared a laugh.

"Neil will love you for that one!" she told Katya.

Katya and Neil were married for six years before revealing in 2019 that they were splitting up.

The break-up occurred just months after Katya was photographed kissing her celebrity dance partner Seann Walsh during an evening out, an incident both issued apologies for and which Katya described as a "one-off mistake".

However, a representative for the couple emphasised at the time that the kiss wasn't behind their separation.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and It Takes Two airs on BBC Two.
