EMMERDALE AIRS PRISON TWIST AS NEW CHARACTER MAKES EXPLOSIVE DEBUT ON ITV SOAP

Emmerdale welcomed a compelling addition to its cast on Thursday night's episode as actor Eddie Osei joined the hit ITV soap.

Former EastEnders star Eddie made his debut as Victor, a man with a mysterious past and deep connections within the village.

Only recently, vicar Charles, portrayed by Kevin Mathurin, has been engaging in shifty behaviour and secretive phone calls, which has left fans speculating as to what's going on.

And the intrigue peaked when Charles was shown visiting a high-security prison, leading to a tense encounter with Victor.

It then soon became clear that Victor is his father and has been freshly released from serving a long prison sentence.

But why was he serving a lengthy sentence and what does his release mean for son Charles and ex-wife Claudette?

And could Victor's arrival jeopardise Charles' esteemed position in the village?

Emmerdale producer, Hannah Cheers, said: "Victor's arrival in Emmerdale turns life for the Andersons upside down. The brilliant addition of Eddie Osei as Victor has allowed us to learn more about who the Andersons are and we can't wait for the audience to watch as the drama unfolds.

"While Claudette is confronted by the husband she prayed she'd never see again, Charles has to face up to painful past traumas and he makes no secret of the fact that Victor is not welcome here. But who will win out?"

While actor Eddie, who is playing Victor, added: "I feel privileged to be joining such a great show and I am honoured to be working with the fantastic cast and crew.

"It is very exciting for me to be playing Victor who is such an enigmatic character and who causes the Anderson family so much trouble!"

It's been an exciting few weeks for Charles as only recently his "force to be reckoned with" mother, Claudette, made her debut in the village.

The news was revealed in April as Emmerdale teased at the time: "Claudette is a force to be reckoned with and totally unafraid to speak her mind. She is deeply proud of her son Charles’ position as a vicar and grandson Ethan’s legal career.

"She believes herself to be a loving matriarch, but secretly Charles finds his mother rather overbearing and soon the other villagers will learn not to get on the wrong side of Claudette.

"But what brings Claudette back into her son Charles’ life?"
