EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT MOTHERLAND SPIN-OFF AMANDALAND

If you're anything like us, you were hooked on BBC's award-winning comedy show, Motherland. Now, you're in luck, as almost a decade later, a spin-off series starring Lucy Punch is coming... and very soon!

The original series, which aired for three seasons between 2016 and 2022, followed the trials and traumas of middle-class motherhood in London, complete with playground politics, stressful school runs and more.

Now, Amanda is back, with Lucy Punch reprising her role for a spin-off series. So, from the release date to the cast, the plot to the trailer, here is everything we know so far about Amandaland.

Amandaland: Release date

We've not got long to wait, with Amandaland's release date set for 9pm on Wednesday 5 February on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Amandaland: First-look images

The BBC has released first-look images from the series, giving us a glimpse at some of the things Amanda will be getting up to. They include Amanda with Anne (Philippa Dunne) at a football game, Amanda enjoying a camping trip in a camper van, and Amanda attending an evening party alongside her mother, played by Joanna Lumley.

The images also show fellow cast members Samuel Anderson, who stars as Mal in the spin-off show, Siobhan McSweeney as Della and Rochenda Sandall as Fi.

Amandaland: Plot

The official plot for the BBC spin-off is as follows, "Post her divorce, Amanda has had to downsize and up sticks to South Harlesden or, as the estate agent calls it, SoHa (definitely not the area around Wormwood Scrubs prison).

"With both Manus and Georgie now at secondary school, Amanda has to try and get her head around raising teenagers, dealing with modern motherhood horrors like teenage drinking, fake Instagram accounts and eco anxiety. Not even a woman as certain of her parenting as Amanda can deal with these nightmares alone.

"Then there’s Amanda’s mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley) who is constantly around, and completely in denial that she is, in fact, lonely. Theirs is a slightly unhealthy co-dependent relationship based on backhanded compliments and veiled snipes about her new home.

"After a brief spell of freedom, Anne (Philippa Dunne) is sucked back into being Amanda’s minion to help her navigate the social scene with the other parents at the children’s new school. Thank God for Anne."

Can't wait!
