EastEnders viewers may have something to look forward to, as former star Clair Norris has hinted at the possibility of teaming up with ex-co-star Maisie Smith again.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star in collaboration with casino.org, Clair, who played Benie Taylor character on the BBC soap, reflected on her time working with Maisie and the unique bond their characters shared on screen.
“I loved working with Maisie Smith. I think our characters’ friendship on the show was so lovely — total chalk and cheese, at first, nobody really understood it, but it just worked. And that’s what made the dynamic so nice,” Clair said.
The actress, who started on the soap as a teenager, explained that playing younger characters came with a responsibility.
“Since we were young actors playing even younger characters, we were aware of what we wanted to represent to the younger girls watching. So yeah, it was really great to work with her, and I hope our paths cross again in the future so we can do more together,” she added.
Clair’s comments will thrill fans who have long hoped for a reunion between the two actresses, whose on-screen friendship was praised for its authenticity and charm.
Beyond Maisie, Clair also revealed a few other colleagues she would love to work with again.
“I’d like to work with Matthew [Morrison] again. There are so many people, actually. I didn’t get to work with Zaarah [Abrahams] that much, and she’s a close friend. So it would have been nice to work with her at some point,” she explained.
Clair has also teased she could return to EastEnders one day after leaving Walford in July.
The actress, who played fan favourite Bernie for eight years, has now revealed she is not ruling out a comeback and dropped a tantalising three-word response when asked if viewers might see her back in Albert Square.
Asked whether she could see Bernie walking back onto the Square, she said: “Maybe. I mean, never say never. They bring people back all the time, but I think at the moment, I want to focus on other things.”
