NAGA MUNCHETTY LEFT BBC'S GETHIN JONES 'DYING OF EMBARRASSMENT' ON TV AFTER GOING TOO FAR

Naga Munchetty, 48, is known for presenting BBC Breakfast alongside Charlie Stayt with the pair being firm favourites with viewers. Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones, 45, has recalled in a new interview when Naga appeared on the show in 2021, with the presenter being left "dying in embarrassment" because of her.

Gethin and Naga hold a close relationship away from the BBC studios as they hit the golf club last week for a catch-up.

In the interview with The Daily Star, Gethin said that Naga is the type of character that always "keeps you on your toes" due to her "funny" personality.

However, this hasn't always gone down smoothly with the presenter as he recalled Naga's appearance on Morning Live in 2021.

The Welsh presenter admitted he was mortified when Naga tried to make him dance in front of the pop group Steps.

Back in 2021, Naga repeatedly tried to get Gethin to dance in front of Steps as they were in the BBC Breakfast studio.

Egging him on, she said: "Go on, we've got an audience for you.

However, Gethin insisted he couldn't dance, hitting back: "I can't dance on my own, my experience of Strictly, I can only dance with a professional partner."

When she continued to press him to perform, Gethin ended up begging producers to cut her off.

Gethin commented to the aforementioned publication about the 2021 incident: "Naga just wouldn't let it go, we were waiting for it to cut back to them.

"I was just dying of embarrassment."

This comes as Comic Relief viewers quipped that Ofcom will have a field day after Naga read out an expletive during the show.

The annual telethon returned to our screens on Friday evening and viewers witnessed broadcasters read out cringy jokes from a card.

During the segment, Naga, Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid and Krishnan Guru-Murthy were given cards to read from.

Piers read out: "The other day I bought a thesaurus but when I got home and opened it all the pages were blank... I have no words to describe how angry I am."

Naga then quipped: "I went to the zoo the other day, and there was only one dog in it. It was a Shih Tzu."

Her co-star Charlie Stayt immediately got the joke but Naga was still figuring it out.

Viewers immediately rushed to Twitter to comment on the light-hearted joke, as she alluded to the expletive.

Alphaglitchgirl said: "Oops, a kind of swear word before 9pm. Ofcom is gonna have a field day with complaints lmao."

Paulwdoctor added: "Naga Munchetty's Shih Tzu joke. Love that it took so long for the penny to drop with her #innocent."

Comic Relief had the likes of David Tennant, AJ Odudu, Joel Dommett, Zoe Ball and Paddy McGuinness hosting the telethon.

Morning Live presenter Gethin also completed 24 hours of dancing in the studio for Red Nose Day.
