NETFLIX VIEWERS BRAND SERIES 'TRIGGERING' BUT ADMIT 'I CAN'T STOP WATCHING'

Netflix viewers have been left horrified after a new documentary dropped on the streaming service at the end of June.

The seven-part series follows one of the world's most famous cheerleading squads, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Throughout the docuseries, people got a raw insight into the organisation as it followed the journey of director Kelli Finglass and choreographer Judy Trammell picking members for the 2023-2024 squad.

From the audition process to the final game of the season, the Netflix show also focused on some individual members of the team from rookie Reece Allman to five-year veteran Kelcey Wetterberg.

However, it seemed as though some of the revelations in the documentary left some viewers horrified.

Now firmly in Netflix's Top 10 list, some people were astounded to discover that people get paid very little.

One former cheerleader on the team, Kat Puryear commented on the wages she made when on the squad back in 2022.

She said: “I would say I'm making like… a substitute teacher, I would say I'm making… like a Chick-fil-A worker who works full time.”

In the documentary it showed some of the cheerleaders having to work full-time jobs while keeping up with the intense rehearsals on the squad.

Taking to Twitter, one social media user wrote: “Watching "America's Sweethearts" about the Dallas Cowboys' cheerleaders on Netflix and my God, this needed a trigger warning. So upsetting, but I cannot stop watching.”

After learning the little amount the squad members make, another viewer fumed: “Absolutely disgusting that a million dollar company pays the cheerleaders so little but expects them at their beck and call for promotional events. Pay your employees what they deserve.”

Another reeled: “I'm on the last episode of the @dallascowboys cheerleaders documentary and I'm enraged. I knew I should not have started watching. Girls can't get paid. No justice for getting groped. This is AWFUL.”

However, despite some of the shocking revelations that were uncovered, some people praised the show and the talents that the girls have on the team.

Someone else tweeted: “Didn’t want to watch the Dallas cowboy cheerleader documentary because I know that drama, “sisterhood”, and the f***ing fakeness that comes with it.

"BUT it is actually VERY good and these ladies are so supportive and sweet. So amazing to see in such a competitive space.”

America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders is available to stream on Netflix now.
