Outlander executive producer Matthew B Roberts has hinted the franchise might extend past its eighth and concluding series.
With the historical fantasy drama's grand finale set to debut next March on Starz and MGM+ via Prime Video, devotees have been treated to a breathtaking first glimpse of the returning principal cast.
Leading stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan embrace as author Diana Gabaldon's beloved characters Claire Fraser and Jamie Fraser, bracing themselves for their most challenging storyline to date.
Making their comeback are Sophie Skelton as their daughter, Brianna Fraser, alongside Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie.
Heughan looks as robust as ever beside Jamie's closest companion Lord John Grey (David Berry), and his clandestine son, William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart). Meanwhile, John Bell's Young Ian Murray beams cheerfully with his spouse Rachel Hunter (Izzy Meikle-Small), reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Yet, these fresh official photographs of the central cast aren't the sole exciting morsels offered to supporters this week as they anticipate the upcoming series.
In conversation with Vanity Fair, EP Roberts has also revealed tantalising clues about what lies ahead next year, including a conclusion to the programme he describes as something that "kept me up at night".
"We hit you with a pretty big wave of information right off the bat," Roberts confirms, adding, "I always had the ending in my head."
The television adaptation's conclusion will diverge from Gabaldon's novel series, which is set to wrap up with its 10th instalment. Roberts also revealed that several different endings were shot "for security reasons".
Regarding the franchise's future, loyal Outlander fans can anticipate at least another series of the prequel spin-off, Blood of My Blood.
However, Roberts has hinted that Claire and Jamie's tale might well extend past the concluding series.
When asked about a potential cinema sequel, he teased: "It's certainly been talked about, but it's all about where people are in their lives.
"I've heard not only the producers, but the cast, say 'never, say never.'".
Might the ensemble eventually reunite to bring Gabaldon's remaining novels to life on the big screen?
Outlander season 8 premieres 6th March, 2026 on Starz and will be available to stream on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK.
