Spoilers for Power Book IV: Force season 3, episode 5 follow.
Power Book IV: Force's latest episode on Friday 5 December delivered on a long-awaited alliance with brothers Diamond and Jenard Sampson, who finally joined forces as the heads of CBI.
After members of the Yardie crew take down one of CBI's vulnerable crew members, Wheelie, Diamond and Jenard set their sights on working together to take down Zamost and his Yardie crew in a brutal showdown.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, stars Isaac Keys and Kris D Lofton opened up about what it means to have the Sampson brothers back on the same page, why Tommy Egan wasn't needed, and why season 3 is delivering on the show's most gruesome moments yet.
Keys, who plays Diamond, first explained how his character was a boss in his own right, saying: "Well, I think that's one of the other things that you know when it came down to communication, and the fact that, okay, 'Well, do I need to tell you?'
"I'm a leader as well, do I need to explain every plan that I have? Or sometimes I just need to go out – Diamond needs to just go out and just handle it? Because that's who he is. He is a boss."

Season 3 has seen a rift brewing between Diamond and Tommy, with the two wanting to lead CBI.
Keys went on to explain how the lines between being a team player and a boss are blurred, saying: "I think that sometimes those lines got a little blurred as the show goes on, because Diamond [will] ask, 'What you want to do now, Tommy. What's your plan now?' And he asked that a lot. To the point where I'm even, as Isaac, I'm like, 'Just go do it Diamond, like you a boss'."
It took a while but Diamond and Jenard finally got their moment to shine as brothers when they wiped Yardie leader Zamost firmly off the Chicago map.
Keys continued to explain what taking back control of CBI meant to Diamond in that moment, saying: "I think that is an amazing feat for [Diamond]. You're showing that, yeah, Diamond will go along with the gameplay. He can be a team player.

"But at the same time, he is a boss. And he can make those decisions and make those calls if he wants to. And then he'll explain it to him later, but that's his call. But again, in any relationship, lack of communication can be your downfall."
Lofton revealed that he's unsure whether his character Jenard is capable of maintaining his reformed brotherly bond with Diamond.
"I think that that's an uphill battle," he said. "I don't know that Jenard can keep anyone, not just Diamond. I don't know if Jenard can keep anyone by his side, because he's just dealing with a lot and he is playing a lot of sides and addiction."
The actor also explained why the duo didn't need Tommy Egan in their secret mission, saying: "That was the good first step to try to get back in his brother's good graces and just being aligned in the decision making of the organisation. Like, yeah, I'm CBI, but it was more so Tommy and Diamond just pointing and telling Jenard what to do, as opposed to us going to handle it.

"If memory serves me correctly, that scene, Tommy didn't come with us. It was just me and Diamond, so that felt good. That felt good. It's like, look, this is how it's supposed to be. We didn't need the white boy. We didn't need him. We did this by ourselves, look.
"And I think that that was like a 'finally about time'. That was a breath of fresh air for Jenard, if you will, in that episode."
When asked about some of the show's gruesome scenes, Keys explained how the fans are in for a treat in season 3 "because we waited so long for this show to come out".
"I have to say that even I watched it [and] I said, 'Oh'. Either I was too caught up in what I was doing in the scene, or I just kind of forgot from the last time we see it, like the tongue [being cut out], some other things are happening.
"The fans are going to be in for a good treat. And I think it's well deserving, because we waited so long for this show to come out, so I think we need to give them everything they possibly could want or need.
"They might not even know they need all this, but we're going to give it to them. And I think that it might be, this has to kind of go down with some of the most gruesome, I think so, and I think that's okay, because it's Power Book IV: Force, and I think that's what we're all about."
Power Book IV: Force season 3 airs each Friday on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and via Starz in the US.
