TIMOTHY SPALL AND MAGGIE SMITH'S FORGOTTEN BRITISH DRAMA IS NOW STREAMING FOR FREE

Timothy Spall and Maggie Smith's forgotten British drama From Time to Time is now streaming for free in the UK.

Directed by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, the adventure fantasy film stars Alex Etel as a teenage boy who discovers he can time travel.

The synopsis reads: "A haunting Christmas ghost story spanning two worlds, more than a century apart. When 13-year-old Tolly finds he can mysteriously travel between the two, he begins an adventure that unlocks family secrets laid buried for generations."

Released back in 2010, the film is now available to watch on Channel 5's streaming service, meaning UK viewers can catch it for free with ads.

Joining Smith and Spall on the cast are Fellowes' Downton Abbey co-worker Hugh Bonneville, Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten, Succession's Harriet Walter, The Crown actor Dominic West, Douglas Booth, Christopher Villiers, and Pauline Collins.

Meanwhile, Downton Abbey producer Gareth Neame recently shared an update on the beloved franchise's third and final film that will reunite Bonneville and Fellowes, saying it will deliver a "full and proper conclusion".

The popular period drama is set to return in September with its third feature film, titled Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, and will follow the Crawley family as they head into the 1930s.

On why they chose to make three feature films following six seasons of television, Neam explained at a Golden Globes panel discussion (via Variety): "[I was] always quite optimistic about it, because I felt the TV show was very cinematic and would work on the big screen."

He continued: "It was a practical way to keep Downton going. But again, we don’t want to do that forever, either. And we didn’t want for the franchise and for Downton Abbey just to come to an end. We wanted to have proper closure.

"So for fans of Downton Abbey, [The Grand Finale] is a full and proper conclusion to the stories of all of those characters."

From Time to Time is available to watch for free on Channel 5.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is scheduled to be released in cinemas on September 12.
