Jilly Cooper fans, get excited - your first look at a teaser trailer for the upcoming Rivals series adaptation is here.

The eight-part series, which will stream on Disney+, is based on author Jilly Cooper's iconic novel of the same name, which was first published in 1988.

After being treated to a first-look at David Tennant and Aidan Turner in character back in May, the channel has now revealed a first-look teaser trailer, as well as some more character stills - and it looks every bit as thrilling as we were hoping.

In the video and accompanying second wave of 'first-look' images, we get a glimpse of the the lavish debauchery the storyline is fuelled by, as well as the star-studded cast, including David Tennant as Lord Tony Baddingham, the controller of Corinium Television, Alex Hassell as his rival, ex-Olympian and Tory MP Rupert Campbell-Black, and TV presenter Declan O’Hara, played by Aidan Turner (Poldark) who gets caught in the cross-fire of this rivalry.

We also get our first look at nine more iconic characters from the drama, including Sarah Stratton (Emily Atack – The Inbetweeners), Caitlin O’Hara (Catriona Chandler – Enola Holmes 2), James Vereker (Oliver Chris – The Crown), Freddie Jones (Danny Dyer – EastEnders), Paul Stratton (Rufus Jones),Valerie Jones (Lisa McGrillis – Avoidance), Bas Baddingham (Luke Pasqualino – Skins), Lady Monica Baddingham (Claire Rushbrook – Sherwood) and Maud O’Hara (Victoria Smurfit – Bloodlands).

'Set against the backdrop of the drama, excess and shocking antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England, Rivals delves headfirst into the ruthless world of independent television in 1986,' reads the official synopsis from Disney+.

Information on the upcoming series has been sparse so far, as details have been kept closely under wraps, but with a teaser trailer now released, we're hoping there's not too much longer to wait until we can watch the full series.
