ANDREA MCLEAN RECALLS RUSHING DAUGHTER TO A&E OVER HOLE IN HER HEAD

Andrea McLean, 53, has been an ever-present face on British television for the last two decades and despite her seemingly unflappable nature, the presenter revealed she only stays calm until a crisis has completely passed.

Speaking with former broadcast beauty editor Emma Guns on her podcast, The Emma Guns Show, Andrea recalled the harrowing incident as one of the best examples of this.

The mum-of-two shared: "I heard a scream that only a mother can understand. That's a different scream. I ran outside and Amy's clutching the back of her head going: 'I have a hole in my head!' She did in fact have a hole in her head."

Andrea was able to keep her now 16-year-old daughter calm, and quickly got to work trying to shield her from the worst of her injuries.

The Scots presenter grabbed a red tea towel and pressed it against her daughter's head "because if she sees how much blood's coming out she's going to freak" before "calmly driving to A&E".

Even at the hospital the mum-of-two kept her composure, quietly whispering to the receptionist to explain the situation out of earshot from her injured daughter.

Once Amy was safely in the hands of medical staff, Andrea burst into tears, exclaiming: "Oh my god, she literally could've...what could've happened."

Andrea added that this skill is almost a requirement for working decades in live television although noted that her husband, Nick Feeney, might disagree "because he hears me afterwards swearing like a sailor".

Elsewhere in the interview, Andrea insisted that although some people get the impression that she's "snobby or quite up myself", in actuality the Scottish presenter is just shy.

She explained that when people suddenly come up to her she will "go like a turtle back in my shell", highlighting that she's not being rude but often feels "attacked" in these situations.

Emma recalled a similar feeling when she attended one of her first work events just three months into her "dream job".

At the event, a nervous Emma "froze" when someone started questioning her about the celebrities she had worked with as she didn't know how much she could say. As a result, she was later called into the editor's office after a complaint was issued "about how rude you were".
