JAMIE FOXX REVEALS HE WAS 'GONE FOR 20 DAYS' AS STAR OPENS UP ABOUT HIS ILLNESS

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx has revealed more details of the illness that almost derailed his career saying he had a “bad headache” then he was “gone for 20 days”.

The star, whose films include the biopic Ray and Django Unchained, spent two weeks in hospital last year but has remained tight-lipped about what happened.

But speaking to fans outside a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, Foxx said: “Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil…I was gone for 20 days.”

He added: “I don't remember anything” before adding his family took him to two different doctors to get a diagnosis but refused to say “on camera” what they doctors had diagnosed as wrong with him.

The first the public heard about it was when his illness was revealed on April 12 last year by his daughter Corinne who said he was being treated for an unspecified issue and that “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery”.

Foxx himself described his illness as “an unexpected dark journey” and praised his family for saving his life and keeping details of his illness “airtight”.

He shed further light on his condition last December when he accepted an award for his work andwalking onto the stage told the audience: “You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago.

“I couldn’t actually walk.

“I want to thank everybody. I’ve been through something, I’ve been through some things.

“I cherish every single minute now, it’s different, I I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel.

"I saw the tunnel — I didn’t see the light.”
