LIZZO TEASES NEW MUSIC AS SHE SAYS SHE IS 'HAPPIEST I'VE BEEN IN 10 MONTHS'

Lizzo has said she is the "happiest I've been in 10 months" after seemingly threatening early retirement and posting a "worrying" poem in which she ditched her famous name.

The Grammy winner, 36, also teased new music as she spoke about her recent mental health struggles on Instagram this week.

“I'm the happiest I've been in 10 months,” she said.

“The strange thing about depression is you don't know you're in it until you're out of it.

“I'm definitely not all the way as carefree as I used to be... But the dark cloud that followed me every day is finally clearing up.

“My smile reaches my eyes again and that's a win,” she explained.

“I thought my album was finished... but I gotta get some of these good vibes off in a banger real quick. Thanks for your patience.”

Earlier this year the singer led fans to believe she was turning her back on the music industry amid the sexual harassment lawsuit against her by her former dancers.

"All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it," she wrote on social media at the time. "But I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it.

“I'm constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don't know me and disrespecting my name.”

She added: “I didn't sign up for this s**t — I QUIT.”

But following an outpouring of support from fans and celebrity pals the likes of Paris Hilton and Beyonce, she clarified that she only meant she "quit giving any negative energy attention".

“What I'm not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people, 'cause I know I'm not alone,” she said.

“In no way, shape or form, am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive.”

Lizzo also left fans alarmed last month after discussing her issues and returning to the use of her real name, Melissa Viviane Jefferson, in a Tumblr post.

“Melissa hated her feelings,” her essay began. “She buried them in a chest in the 5th grade (along with her ability to express them). Other peoples’ feelings on the other hand was her forte. She could process, decipher and regurgitate other people’s emotions effortlessly...

“Traumas began to compact on Melissa, as they do,” she explained, before concluding, “Melissa began to fall for her feelings... They weren’t always logical, as feelings seldom are... And when she sat alone sipping wine, staring at the moon… They were the only ones still by her side."

Last August, Lizzo was sued by three of her former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.

She responded to the "false allegations" in a statement, calling the claims “unbelievable” and "outrageous".

“These sensationalised stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behaviour on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional,” she said.

“I'm hurt but I will not let the good work I've done in the world be overshadowed by this. I want to thank everyone who has reached out in support to lift me up during this difficult time.”
