SIENNA MILLER JUST CO-SIGNED ONE OF SUMMER'S BIGGEST DENIM TRENDS AT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

Love them or loathe them, there is no escaping barrel jeans and now, thanks to Sienna Miller, many of us are coveting them as an evening wear staple. Pictured at a photocall for her latest project, Horizon: An American Saga at the Cannes Film Festival, the longtime sartorial It-girl brought flare to the denim style.

Arriving hand in hand with co-star Kevin Costner the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, the actors' look was a masterclass in how to dress up denim.

Miller, who was styled by Harry Lambert for the occasion, paired the low-waisted, floor-skimming bottoms, which were crafted from Japanese raw denim, with a cream bouclé jacket and delicate accessories.

Opting for a pair of barrel jeans by Schiaparelli was a natural choice as the French label is well known for its legacy of experimental tailoring, a style code established by its founder Elsa Schiaparelli and upheld by its current creative director, Daniel Roseberry

In fact, since joining the brand in 2019, Roseberry has established himself as a lover of daring denim, even showing the fabric as part of several of the label's couture collections.

There are major style notes to be borrowed from Miller here. Darker washes are more readily rendered smarter and have less off-duty energy than lighter wash contemporaries. Also, lock in on the idea of jeans-and-a-nice-jacket as a go-to. As for the barrel jeans, they hold serious, smart potential when done right — plus if Sienna Miller has co-signed, they have to be good.
