A top Manchester restaurant has reopened for the summer and has announced a new eating challenge dubbed the city’s ‘most exciting’ one yet.
The two-floor Roby 1844, which is located next to the Holiday Inn near Piccadilly station and boasts a sun-trap terrace, has unveiled a brand new menu celebrating refreshing flavours.
The new menu at the restaurant, which also has an outdoor bar, includes the likes of Baja fish tacos, salt and pepper chicken, Italian meatballs, and patatas bravas. Drinks-wise, there will also be a tailor-made spritz menu featuring a range of flavours including rhubarb, raspberry, ginger, and elderflower.

There will also be the classic Aperol Spritz and a Hugo Spritz, which includes Elderflower Liqueur, Prosecco, Soda, Lime and Mint. A new HoneyBee concoction is also available, which is made up of Glengoyne 12yo Single Malt, Honey, Lemon, and Ginger Ale.
But perhaps most exciting to some people will be the return of Roby’s ‘famous’ eating challenge. The Big Bird Challenge, which has been billed as ‘not for the faint of heart’, features two crispy chicken breasts, two waffles drizzled with maple syrup and two beef patties with cheese, bacon, and salad all on a brioche bun.
If that’s not enough, the offering also comes with three onion rings, an extra-large portion of Roby rub fries, and a pint of a soft drink to wash it all down.
Anyone who is able to conquer the feast and complete it all within 20 minutes will not only get the whole meal for free, but will claim a limited edition winner’s T-shirt. Those wishing to try their luck can pay £40 to take part.
The city centre venue’s reopening will also include a range of new summer hours, open from 12pm to 8pm on Thursday, and 12pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday. It will also be open between 12pm and 7pm on Sunday.
