Two Cornwall places have been named among the top must-do experiences in the UK. A holiday company asked people to rate popular activities that they think should be on the nation’s bucket list.
Top of the list was seeing the Northern Lights from the Isle of Skye, Scotland - with a visit to Cornwall's Eden Project coming in second place. Watching a play at the Minack Theatre was also among the top 20 things to see and do.
Further down the list, going surfing in Newquay was ranked 25th. Other sought-after experiences not a million miles from home included a visit to Stonehenge, seeing Cheddar Gorge in Somerset and watching starling murmurations at the River Exe Estuary, Devon.

The activities were compiled by Sykes Holiday Cottages and UK travel expert, Richard Madden. Graham Donoghue, chief executive of Sykes Holiday Cottages, with a survey asking 2,000 adults for their views. Mr Donoghue said: "There is so much on our doorstep when it comes to holidays and activities, and Cornwall boasts a whole host of exciting things to see and do.
"Some of the activities that have topped our bucket list might only be a stone’s throw away from where you live and with summer officially beginning, there is no better time to head out your door and explore."
Money (50 per cent), unpredictable weather (35 per cent), and work commitments (22 per cent) were cited as the top three reasons as to why British travellers don’t explore the UK as often as they would like.
Award-winning travel writer and author, Richard Madden, added: “During my time as a travel writer, I’ve discovered that Cornwall is not short of unforgettable locations, historic landmarks, unique experiences, and impressive wildlife, and hopefully this new research will spark ideas for trips closer to home this year."
