So, the remake of Silent Hill 2 turned out to be brilliant, we’ve got Silent Hill f arriving in September, a remake of the original has just been announced, and now we finally have a date for Return to Silent Hill arriving in cinemas. All things considered, it’s a very good time to be a Silent Hill fan.
US-based distributor Cineverse has announced that Return to Silent Hill, the third film based on Konami’s terrifying horror series, will arrive in cinemas on 23rd January 2026. It’s further away than we anticipated, what with the film seemingly being completed quite a while ago, but it’s nice to finally have an idea of when we’ll be able to watch it.
For those unaware, Return to Silent Hill is an adaptation of Silent Hill 2, following James Sunderland upon his return to Silent Hill in order to track down his late wife. But of course, things are never simple in the mysterious town, and countless horrors await.
While the second Silent Hill film, Silent Hill: Revelation, starring Kit Harrington of Game of Thrones fame, was pretty terrible, the first is generally accepted as one of the better video game film adaptations. The good news is that the director of the first film, Christophe Gans, is returning for this new entry. And better still, Akira Yamaoka is involved with the film’s soundtrack, too.
Overall, we’re keeping expectations in check, but we’re looking forward to seeing Return to Silent Hill. The only thing we’re wondering, however, is whether it will release in UK cinemas at the same time, or if we’ll have to wait a little while longer. Hopefully we’ll find out more as its US cinema release date approaches.
