ROSAMUND PIKE'S "SUSPENSEFUL" NEW THRILLER DEBUTS WITH 100% ROTTEN TOMATOES RATING

Rosamund Pike is back with new thriller Hallow Road, and early reviews are positive.

The film kicks off when two parents (Pike and Matthew Rhys) receive a call in the middle of the night from their teenage daughter: she accidentally hit a pedestrian.

The couple race to get to the scene before anyone else can, but they soon realise someone else might already be out there. On top of that, the distressing news turns out to be the spark that sets off a series of revelations that could ruin the family forever.

Hallow Road won't be released until May, but it's already premiered at SXSW 2025, where critics got to see it. From the 10 reviews collected so far, the film has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Here's what some of the reviews have said:

The Hollywood Reporter

"Essentially a two-hander, the movie might have been merely a minimalist exercise — albeit an impressive one — in mounting dread. But high-intensity performances from Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys elevate the suspenseful thriller, its psychological grounding gradually expanding into a darker mythic realm."

AV Club

"Hallow Road really thrives when at its most simple. Sticking with Pike and Rhys in a simple windshield shot, cutting only to other tight, static angles from inside the car, allows the pair to carry the film. A few pieces of effective visual bombast go big alongside them to shock our systems, but this only works because the trip up until that point has been so realistically nerve-wracking."

ScreenRant

"Hallow Road is captivating for its entire 80-minute runtime. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, and its compelling narrative lingers in our hearts throughout the film (and after). I’m still parsing through everything I witnessed and felt while watching the film. Too often, stories can gloss over the intricate complexities of parent-child relationships, but Hallow Road gets to the heart of the hard questions we rarely ask or engage with."

Dread Central

"Engaging, thrilling, and a little weird. William Gillies' script is an intricate puzzle where information is revealed at precisely the right moments to keep this claustrophobic, single-location horror show interesting. Plus it moves along at a fast enough pace that each minute is used economically when it comes to building this family dynamic and revealing its many mysterious layers. Creative cinematography and skillful sound design elevate the film into more than just two people talking in a car."

Hallow Road is directed by Babak Anvari, who previously helmed the 2019 horror Wounds, a film that we at Digital Spy loved.

Hallow Road will be released in UK cinemas on May 16.
