We have another big screen video game adaptation on the way, with Street Fighter due to be released next year. Though such films are often panned by critics, fans are hoping that this one could be different.
The upcoming film is the third live-action one based on the long-running video game franchise, with the action set to focus on Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) as they take part in the World Warrior Tournament.
Primed for release in October 2026, fans of the original games are naturally excited for the latest big screen outing, and they now have some footage to enjoy after Paramount Pictures released the first teaser.
In the 45-second clip, we get a glimpse of various characters, but also some of the fight choreography on display. Judging by the reaction from fans on social media, it seems the film could be a hit with its core fanbase.
"This looks fantastically ridiculous," wrote one fan on Reddit, while another happy viewer commented: "Street Fighter needs a degree of cheese to work. It looks suitably over-the-top."

"Doesn't look like it’s trying to take itself too seriously, and hopefully there's some good chemistry with the cast, 'cause that’s really the only thing that'll either help/hurt the fun. That, and making sure the story is simple. Just gotta let the campy flow through it," said one fan.
"Street Fighter is very much style over substance/mythology and is so rooted in anime and Japanese sensibilities that trying to do anything but stylized and silly breaks under its own weight," explained another, who added that the film "looks absolutely amazing".

"Uhhhhh….does this look actually incredible or is it just me?" asked an enthusiastic viewer, while another responded: "It looks like WAY more fun than I anticipated it to be, mostly because it's not taking itself seriously + the fights don't look too bad."
In addition to Koji and Centineo, the stacked cast for the film includes Jason Momoa, Cody Rhodes, David Dastmalchian, Eric André, Callina Liang and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. Kitao Sakurai is on directing duties, while Dalan Musson has penned the screenplay.
Street Fighter is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 16 October 2026.
