WHO ARE SADIE SINK'S PARENTS?

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most recognisable names in streaming TV.

The young actress portrays teenager Max Mayfield in Netflix's hit supernatural horror series and has fast become a fan-favourite after her introduction in the second season.

Throughout the series, she has formed a close friendship with superpowered teen Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) as well as a blossoming romance with Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) while battling monsters from the Upside Down.

At the end of season four, she was tragically left comatose following a tense showdown with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), with Lucas desperately playing her favourite song on a loop to try and reawaken her.

With her fate still in the balance heading into the four final episodes of the series, coming to Netflix later this month, let's take a look at Sink's journey on and off-screen so far.

Who are Sadie Sink's parents?

Sink, 23, was born in Brenham, Texas in 2022 to math teacher Lori (née Baughman) and football coach Casey Sink.

She comes from a large family with three older brothers (Caleb, Spencer, and Mitchell) and a younger sister (Jacey) and has English, German, and Irish ancestry.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Sink has described her parents as "kind and hardworking", while adding she comes from a "family of people-pleasers".

She told Vogue in 2022: "We were born into a pretty sports-oriented family and none of us were exposed to the acting industry growing up.

"But for some reason, Mitchell and I had this gravitation towards performing arts - musical theatre, specifically."

Despite initially having more interest in sports, Sink's parents were supportive of her dreams of becoming an actress. Both she and her brother Mitchell were obsessed with musicals growing up and would often re-enact scenes from High School Musical together.

When she was seven, Sink's mother Lori enrolled her and Mitchell in acting lessons in Houston and she landed her first role in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on stage in Brenham.

Aged eight, she went on to perform in a local production of The Secret Garden, which she says involved a lot more practice and line learning.

Now determined to pursue a career in acting, Sink's parents saw her potential and moved the family from Houston to New Jersey.

She then went on to land a number of roles on stage, including White Christmas and a Broadway production of Annie, before landing her earliest TV appearances. Sink made her screen debut in an episode of The Americans before being cast in Blue Bloods.

In 2015, she was cast as a young Queen Elizabeth II opposite Helen Mirren in a Broadway production of The Audience. Sink says the experience of working with the acclaimed British actress "really shifted" her relationship with acting, coming away with newfound understanding.

Her first film role was in the 2016 sports biopic Chuck and she has also starred in two films in Netflix's Fear Street franchise.

Sink's most high-profile film role so far was in the 2022 Oscar-winner The Whale, which starred Brendan Fraser. The Stranger Things star portrayed Ellie, the hot-headed daughter of Fraser's overweight recluse Charlie. At the film's premiere, her brother Spencer called the character a "dirtbag" and joked she was "awful" in it.

Fans will be able to see Sadie Sink in the final episodes of Stranger Things coming soon. She has also been cast in a mysterious role in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Stranger Things season 5, part 2 will be released 26th December on Netflix, followed by the finale on 1st January.
