BBC ANNOUNCES DOCTOR WHO SPECIAL WITH A RETURNING DAVID TENNANT, BILLIE PIPER AND MORE

The BBC has announced a special episode of Doctor Who: Unleashed, which will see the return of a number of stars from throughout the long-running series.

Hosted by Steffan Powell, the special episode will celebrate 20 years of the show's revival and will be available to watch on iPlayer, BBC Three and BBC Wales.

"Steffan Powell takes a trip through the time vortex with a host of cast and creatives who've played a part in bringing the show back into the Whoniverse," read the announcement, which was shared on Twitter/X.

Past Doctors David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker are expected to join Powell alongside former companions Billie Piper, Pearl Mackie, and Mandip Gill, plus the current Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) and his latest companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu).

Ex-showrunners Steven Moffat and Chris Chibnall will also appear in the special, as well as current showrunner Russell T Davies, who was responsible for bringing the show back in 2005.

"After the season's climactic end, it’s great to celebrate the 20 years that led us here," said Davies in a statement about the special. "I hope this is a party for faithful viewers, with a galaxy of stars, Doctors, companions, Billie Piper reunited with David Tennant, and the making of our first ever Dalek!"

Doctor Who: Unleashed was originally released in 2023, to coincide with the show's 60th anniversary. The four 30-minute episodes saw Powell go behind the scenes to gather exclusive content from the cast and crew.

The series featured interviews and guided tours from Tennant, Catherine Tate, Yasmin Finney, Neil Patrick Harris, Millie Gibson and Gatwa, as well as an appearance from the original comic book creators Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons.
