DERRY GIRLS BOSS CONFIRMS CAST FOR NEW NORTHERN IRISH NETFLIX SERIES

Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee's new Netflix show has revealed its all-star cast.

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast will star Unforgotten's Sinéad Keenan alongside actors Roísín Gallagher and Caoilfhionn Dunne, who play three childhood friends in their late 30s in the aftermath of their fourth friend's death.

McGee has written and is executively producing the comedy thriller series for the streaming service, which has begun filming on location in Northern Ireland.

"I couldn’t be more excited to start production on How to Get to Heaven from Belfast," said McGee in a statement. "I’ve loved writing Saoirse, Robyn and Dara – three flawed, funny women who are about to embark on the most thrilling and terrifying adventure of their lives.

"A mystery full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing and make you laugh out loud. Let’s go girls!"

McGee is reuniting with Derry Girls' director Michael Lennox and producers Caroline Leddy and Liz Lewin on the eight-part series. Further casting will be announced at a later date.

"Clever, chaotic TV writer Saoirse (Gallagher), glamorous, stressed-out mother of three Robyn (Keenan), and dependable, inhibited carer Dara (Dunne) have been a tight-knit group since school," reads the show synopsis.

"When an email arrives, telling them about the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood gang, Greta, a series of eerie events at her wake set them on a dark, dangerous and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond as each tries to piece together the truth of the past."

The show promises to explore friendship, memory and what happens when life doesn't turn out as expected.

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast was initially picked up by Channel 4, but has since been acquired by Netflix.

Netflix is also home to all seasons of Derry Girls, which concluded in 2022 with a third and final season.

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast is coming soon to Netflix.
