How old is Unforgotten season five actress Hayley Mills?

Actress Hayley Mills was born on April 18, 1946, in Marylebone, which makes her 76 years old.

While the star does have Instagram, she didn't share what she was up to on her birthday in 2022 and may not again next month.

She is the daughter of actors Sir John Mills and Mary Hayley Bell and it was through her parents that Mills rose to fame.

When she was 12, Mills was discovered by director J. Lee Thompson who was originally looking for a boy to star in the movie Tiger Bay.

It didn't take him long upon meeting Mills to cast her in the part instead, alongside her dad and veteran actor John Mills.

She caught the nation's attention when she went on to win the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer for her performance in the film.

From then, Mills went on to feature in movies like The Parent Trap, Whistle Down the Wind, Pollyanna, The Chalk Garden, and The Trouble with Angels.

It wasn't always easy growing up in the spotlight though as Mills found out when she struck up a deal with Disney, a year after making her debut in Tiger Bay.

Opening up to Yahoo! Entertainment, Mills explained: "The hardest thing was dealing with people socially because I got very shy.

"I was terribly shy, and my fame had grown and it was like somebody else.

"I didn't really recognize this image that I read about.

"The face on the magazine covers and the relationships that I was having with boys that I'd never met and feuds that I was having with girls that I didn't know."

She was very young when Mills got married to director Roy Boulting, with the actress aged 20 and him 53 at the time.

They tied the knot in 1971 and had a son Crispian Mills who is the lead singer of the band Kula Shaker.

The couple divorced six years later with Boulting previously telling the Daily Mail that he considered her the "greatest love" of his life.

She went on to have another son, Jason Lawson, with actor Leigh Lawson but they broke up in the 1980s.

She is now in a relationship with actor and writer Firdous Bamji who she first met in 1997.

Explaining to Yours how they met, Mills said: "My long-time partner is Indian- born actor Firdous Bamji.

"We met when we toured America in the title roles of The King and I; starting off as friends and then it became more - the best way don't you think?"

Unforgotten season five continues every Monday at 9pm on ITV. The drama is also available to watch on ITVX.
