HIT BBC DRAMA WAS THROWN INTO CHAOS BY OSCAR-WINNING STAR OLIVIA COLMAN FOR THIS REASON

Olivia Colman caused chaos when the new series of The Night Manager was made.

Since the show first aired, she has won an Oscar and become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. As she’s so busy these days, getting her to film her scenes proved to be a logistical nightmare.

Exec producer Stephen Garrett said: “We brought Olivia back, which was fantastic. But there was a challenge with that. Lots of people want to work with her. By the time we got around to saying we’d love you to be here on this date, she said, ‘I can’t be’. She was filming in Cornwall.”

Bosses did everything they could to make sure Olivia could reprise her role as Angela Burr for the series.

That included rearranging the schedule and changing locations.

Stephen said: “We had a scene that was written with her in it that was in a Hampstead house.

“But we filmed all our London scenes in the first three weeks of June 2024 and she couldn’t be there. By the time Olivia was available, we were filming in Tenerife.

“The architecture in Tenerife is unlike Hampstead. It was extraordinarily complicated.

“We had to rewrite the scene and reimagine it and then find a building in Tenerife that would look like it was in London.”

The series will start on New Year’s Day at 9pm on BBC One.

Olivia has teased the new series will be must-see TV.

The star is promising it will have viewers on the edge of their seats.

She said: “It’s exciting. There’s a threat around every corner, with people you’re rooting for and people you hate, all whilst looking amazing.

“You can properly invest your time in it because it’s an intelligent drama. This is a series that you can get excited about, watching it with family and friends, wondering where the story will go.”

Olivia was thrilled she got to be part of the series.

She added: “It’s been lovely going back to Angela Burr after nine years.

“I know it’s nine years because I was very pregnant the last time round, and that baby bump is now nine years old. It’s been lovely to come back and to get to see the old team.”
