LAST ONE LAUGHING'S RICHARD AYOADE LANDS NEW BBC ROLE

Last One Laughing star Richard Ayoade has landed a new role at the BBC as the host of Have I Got News For You.

Set for release on Friday 6 June, Ayoade has joined the long-running topical news quiz to host the final episode of series 69.

The episode will air at 9pm on 6 June and will be available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The episode, which will mark Ayoade's 12th time on the panel show overall, sees comedian Jack Dee join the lineup as a guest panellist alongside presenter Kelly Cates.

It will serve as Dee's 22nd appearance on the show, while new Match Of The Day presenter Cates is set to make her debut appearance.

Ayoade most recently starred in season 1 of the Prime Video smash hit Last One Laughing alongside stars including Bob Mortimer, Joe Wilkinson, Lou Sanders, Daisy May Cooper, Judi Love, and Joe Lycett.

Released in March, the gameshow saw the star-studded lineup attempt to make each other laugh while trying to keep a straight face.

Last week, it was announced that the show has been renewed for a second season, with host Jimmy Carr set to return to film later this year with a new lineup of comedians.

"I'm absolutely delighted that Last One Laughing is coming back for a second series," Carr said in a statement.

"I think what’s happened is someone high up at Amazon has clicked ‘subscribe & save’ on Prime Video and, hey presto, we’re back in business.

"I’m so pleased people had as much fun watching the first season as we had making it. Can’t wait to bask in the reflected glory of the next 10 comedy legends taking on the challenge."

Richard Ayoade's episode of Have I Got News For You will air on 6 June at 9pm on BBC One and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
