WALKING DEAD'S FAN-FAVOURITE SPIN-OFF FINALLY CONFIRMS UK DATE FOR "WEIRDER" SECOND SEASON

Sky has announced when The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 will be premiering in the UK.

The spin-off focuses on Negan and Maggie in post-apocalyptic Manhattan, as various factions fight for control of New York City.

It has been confirmed that all eight episodes of season 2 will be released in one go, and you'll be able to watch from Thursday 10 July on Sky's streaming services, including NOW.

That does mean it's been pushed back from June, but not by much. The entire season has aired in the US already, having wrapped up last Sunday.

Reviewers who have already seen season 2 have commonly pointed out that it's quite an out-there entry in the Walking Dead universe.

Screen Rant called it "better and weirder than season 1", stating: "The story this time around is far more interesting, and it's populated with side characters who aren't completely forgettable."

Comic Book Resource echoed the sentiment, but in a much more mixed way. "In its sophomore season, Dead City is still compellingly unhinged, but doesn't have enough of a purpose to justify its existence," the publication's review reads.

Fandom Wire praised Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan for their lead performances as Negan and Maggie, respectively, as well as Kim Coates' villain Brugal. Collider claimed that Morgan "is given little else to do apart from mumbling and looking miserable".

Meanwhile, fellow TWD spin-off Daryl Dixon is set to return a third season later this year.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 drops on 10 July on Sky/NOW in the UK.
