MUSIC LEGEND, 63, FORCED TO PAUSE TOUR OVER 'HEALTH CHALLENGES'

Daniel O'Donnell opened up about taking an extended break from his busy music career and tour schedule due to "health challenges" on Tuesday's Loose Women.

It was announced earlier this year that Irish music legend Daniel, 63, would be taking an "extended break from touring" due to "health challenges".

At the time, Daniel's spokesperson said in a statement: "After much reflection, Daniel has decided to take an extended break from touring.

"This decision was not made lightly, but it is driven by the health challenges he has faced over the past few years, particularly with allergies and recurrent chest infections while touring extensively."

The spokesperson added: "This pause is essential for him to recharge and recover. He emphasises that 'this is not a retirement but rather a temporary break'."

Talking about this decision on Tuesday's Loose Women, Daniel said: "I decided I would take a break, part of the reason is I had a lot of bother with allergies for the last couple of years. Thank God, I'm fine, I've got medication and it's worked very well.

"I would like to kind of see why I had the allergies and I want to go off the medication to see if I can deal with it in another way.

"And I suppose, just, I'm in my 60s, we have four grandchildren. One of the children, the baby lives in Australia.

"Not this coming year but the year after we go for an extended time to Australia to spend time with Mike, Sarah and Jack. Maybe then there might be another one [grandchild], you never know!"

Loose Women star, Coleen Nolan, was quick to ask if this meant he was retiring to which Daniel insisted: "No, no! I'm taking a break, we actually have dates already for here in the UK in December 2027.

"Imagine having dates booked that far in advance, we're going to be in Blackpool and Glasgow, no tickets on sale yet so don't go looking for them!

"When I come back, I don't think I'm going to tour as much, I'm just going to do what I want to do. I've always done what I wanted to do as far as touring is concerned, but there comes a time."

Daniel added that he wants a balance of work and life as "night after night after night" was too much.

Loose Women continues on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
