MUSIC FANS SAY 'BRAVO' AS COLDPLAY SLASH TICKET PRICES FOR THEIR NEW UK DATES IN 2025 AFTER OASIS CONTROVERSY

Coldplay has been applauded by their fans for offering tickets to their ongoing world tour at a mere £20. The band, who first performed Camden's Dublin Castle in 1998 under the name The Coldplay, is currently on performing sold-out stadium shows all over the world on their Music Of The Spheres World Tour - the tour called in Cardiff during the summer of 2023.

Next year, they have performances lined up in cities such as Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, Athens, Bucharest, Lyon, Rome, Dusseldorf, Helsinki, Munich, Vienna, Dublin, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland next year. In an unexpected move, they announced that a limited number of tickets would be available for just £20.

On their website, they wrote: "A limited number of Infinity Tickets are released for every Coldplay show to give fans the chance to attend the Music Of The Spheres World Tour at a super low price." Find out about the latest events in Wales by signing up to our What's On newsletter here

"They cost the equivalent of £20 / $20 / €20 per ticket and must be brought in pairs. Infinity Tickets are randomly allocated anywhere in the venue - from the back row to the floor to the best seat in the house." Fans were encouraged to sign up for alerts ahead of the sales, reports the Mirror. You can sign up to the Coldplay site, here. And if you were unlucky with the presale, general tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster on September 27, here.

This announcement comes after Oasis faced significant criticism for their pricing strategy for their 2025 reunion tour, which saw ticket prices double in some cases as fans made it to the front of the queue on Ticketmaster. The Competition and Markets Authority have since said that they would be investigating the use of so-called 'dynamic pricing'.

Coldplay's decision to offer budget-friendly tickets for their UK concerts has earned them considerable acclaim on social media platforms. One person said on X, "Coldplay doing a limited run of £20 tickets for their upcoming UK shows just proves that bands have a choice to make their gigs more affordable."

Fans eagerly sought details, with one asking, "Wait can you link to this, please? this is so cool." Another person commended the band: "Wouldn't normally mention things like this but Bravo to @coldplay chaps - supporting the @musicvenuetrust with a significant slice of ticket revenue. Will make a huge difference to our scene."

Coldplay confirmed yesterday that they would be bringing the tour back to the UK. They will be performing two dates at Craven Park Stadium in Hull, before heading to Wembley Stadium for six nights in August 2025.

In a statement, Coldplay said that a generous 10% of earnings from these performances will be allocated to support the Music Venue Trust's efforts for grassroots venues and rising talent.

The shows also highlights Coldplay's continued commitment to sustainability as the gigs are set to be entirely energized by renewable sources like solar, wind, and kinetic energy.
