Just like Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson could soon be immersing himself in the National League according to a new report.

With the financially-challenged club searching for new owners, local businessman Simon Jackson and Kristofer Tremains are reportedly in advanced talks to buy the club.

And according to the Southend Echo, the pair's group has 'made contact' with Johnson and his production company Seven Bucks Productions to potentially make a documentary about the Shrimpers.

Of course, Johnson's involvement with Southend is contingent on Jackson and Tremains' takeover being finalized, after club owner Ron Martin revealed his plans to sell it in March.

Southend played alongside Wrexham this season in the National League as the Welsh club became a global sensation behind the marketing of Reynolds and McElhenney.

Their season was chronicled on FX show 'Welcome to Wrexham,' which provided fans an inside look at the club as the Hollywood actors took over.

While the show ended in the heartbreak of Wrexham losing in the 2021-22 National League playoff semifinal to Grimsby Town, the club got over the hump this season.

Wrexham won the National League with an astounding 111 points, getting promoted to League Two whilst avoiding the playoff altogether.

Southend, meanwhile finished eighth out of 24 clubs, so there is a foundation for the club's next owners to build from and potentially another Hollywood tale for Johnson to capture.
