SCOTS VILLAGE SET FOR STARRING ROLE IN NEW DRAMA STARRING BRIAN COX AND ALAN CUMMING
A new feature film starring Scots acting icons Brian Cox and Alan Cumming is to shoot in the Gartmore area next week.
Filming of ‘Glenrothan’ will take place in the village on Wednesday, September 25, and Thursday, September 26.
The new drama is set in a fictional distillery town of the same name and will see Cox make his debut as director.
It will see two brothers – portrayed by Cumming and Cox – who have not spoken since a violent exchange with their father on the day of their mother’s funeral, attempt to put aside their differences to try save the family-owned distillery.
Production firm Brodie Productions Ltd this week wrote to nearby residents to warn them of the production.
Writing to villagers, the production firm said: “You may be aware that we have been in discussions with members of the Gartmore Community Council along with Stirling Council as we would love Gartmore to be featured as our village in the film.
“Discussions have went well thus far so I wanted to inform you on our plans.

“We welcome any feedback at all from residents and hope that our visit can be a pleasant experience.
“The intended scenes in Gartmore village are due to take place on September 25 and 26.”
Scenes are to be filmed outside the Black Bull and at Gartmore Cemetery and there is also a scene at the bottom of the Main Street – next to the bench.
The production company added: “On the Wednesday the majority of the filming will be at the bench location.

“The filming of the Black Bull and at the cemetery will be on the Thursday.
“To facilitate the filming we have requested to place a small amount of advisory coning outside the Black Bull and outside the cemetery.”
The firm says that it will ensure coning is kept to a minimum.

During the filming, access to the Village Hall will be maintained for anyone attending any events there.
Around a dozen equipment vehicles are expected to descend on the village to facilitate the production, where they will park up at Gartmore House.
The production company continued: “To help keep crew and members of the public safe during the filming, we have a traffic management company with us throughout these days.
“It will place temporary traffic lights next to the filming locations and will be running only intermittently when we are filming.
“Our crew of approximately 60 people will maintain a professional and respectful tone to surrounding neighbours when filming, keeping noise levels minimum. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience our visit may cause.”
